Media Mediation # 2: Going Bonkers for Dizzee

Dylan Mills otherwise knows as Dizzee Rascal is an English rapper. Although not well known in America he is a number one artist around Europe as well as Australia and New Zealand. He first became popular after releasing ‘Dance Wiv Me’ in 2008.

This past summer I was lucky enough to be able to see Dizzee in concert, which was amazing. He performed many of his biggest hits including ‘Dance Wiv Me’, ‘Fix Up, Look Sharp’ and ‘Bonkers’. He is defiantly one of my favourite performers to see as he keeps the audience actively involved so the atmosphere is always really upbeat.

His use of lighting as well bass are production techniques he uses to ensure the audience is 100% engaged, while listening you could think you were in some sort of rave like scenario due to this.

He finished up his set with ‘You Got The Dirtee Love’ with Florence Welch from Florence + The Machine which was amazing as they are two of Britain’s biggest stars right now.

Media Mediation # 1: Going To Glastonbury

Glastonbury Festival is a 3-day music festival that takes place once a year sometime in June in Summerset, England. It is the biggest performing arts festival in the world. Glastonbury Festival

This past summer I was lucky enough to be able to attend Glastonbury Festival with five friends. The experience was unreal and I hope to be able to attend again sometime in the near future. Not only were there over 800 musical acts including Vampire Weekend, Snoop Dog, Muse and Stevie Wonder but also countless areas so explore. Some of my favourite areas were the healing fields and green fields.

All three of areas of the brain are constantly being used throughout the festival as the music has an effect on the Limbic area; it affects the neocortex as your constantly thinking about your next move and finally reptilian as you are constantly aware of your surroundings as there are 200,000 thousand strangers all around you in a small compact space.

Throughout the festival the performers used many different production techniques from lighting, which was sometimes just as captivating as the performer during acts such as Boys Noize. Acts such as Vampire Weekend and Florence + The Machine engaged with the 100,000 + audience throughout their sets which helped set the crowd atmosphere.

The whole weekend was a crazy media experience that I hope I can experience again one day.

Im from Sydney, Australia lived in Weston, CT and was born in London, England.
Over the summer i went to Glastonbury Festivals in Glastonbury, England. Its the biggest festival in the world with over 200,000 people which goes on for five days with a lot of bands so it was a lot of fun.
I like having easy access to people all over the world through sites like facebook. I don't false advertisement as it is misleading.
I see myself in the future doing something with Public Relations hopefully with fashion in New York or London.
