Media Mediation # 1: Going To Glastonbury
Glastonbury Festival is a 3-day music festival that takes place once a year sometime in June in Summerset, England. It is the biggest performing arts festival in the world. Glastonbury Festival
This past summer I was lucky enough to be able to attend Glastonbury Festival with five friends. The experience was unreal and I hope to be able to attend again sometime in the near future. Not only were there over 800 musical acts including Vampire Weekend, Snoop Dog, Muse and Stevie Wonder but also countless areas so explore. Some of my favourite areas were the healing fields and green fields.
All three of areas of the brain are constantly being used throughout the festival as the music has an effect on the Limbic area; it affects the neocortex as your constantly thinking about your next move and finally reptilian as you are constantly aware of your surroundings as there are 200,000 thousand strangers all around you in a small compact space.
Throughout the festival the performers used many different production techniques from lighting, which was sometimes just as captivating as the performer during acts such as Boys Noize. Acts such as Vampire Weekend and Florence + The Machine engaged with the 100,000 + audience throughout their sets which helped set the crowd atmosphere.

The whole weekend was a crazy media experience that I hope I can experience again one day.
Limbic brain all the way, Tay!
